the minimalist

I've been getting back into golf since the summer after a 6 year break... I have been getting all my component back and starting to shoot in the mid 80's, but there is still one thing that I haven't added to my game, Christian Louboutin and that's a pair of golf shoes. I have been sandals for the summer time and vans slip on now during the winter. I get a lot of grief on the course about the fact that I don't use golf shoes and I was wondering if its really Louboutin shoes that big of a deal.

I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for shoes and under $100 dollars or so, and what exactly am I looking for? Any suggestions will be appreciated..

Check out my sweet new running Louis Vuitton slippers shoes, in all of their grey and neon yellow glory. Luckily the local Nike Town had my size in stock and accepted my exchange with ease. These babies were in my hands within minutes of stepping foot in the store, and I felt like a giddy little girl after I found the right size. *sigh*

I tested them out last night on handbags the treadmill, and so far so good! Yes, I am sans socks, simply because the shoes spoke to me and said they were soft enough (and I believed them!). And wow, they felt like nothing at all. I only went the first two miles with them on, and it really felt like I was running on my toes and on air. Very cool. The last two miles were with my trusty Asics Kayano 15s...poor things felt like bricks after the Lunaracers. :( But they are my fave shoes and I'm a loyal Asics fan. It was really weird because marc jacobs I was thinking/focusing on my stride a lot last night, and I do run mostly on my toes (and consequently, that's the fastest part to wear out on any of my shoes)...only a little on my heels. Trust me, I tried doing some strides striking with my heel first, chloe but I felt/looked like a goob. I think I may have to video tape it for a good laugh. :)

On a side note, my Lunaracers remind me of Coach Fish. He's quite the minimalist when it comes to running shoes (and has a gazillion different pairs he rotates), and sometimes he doesn't wear socks. Plus, he seems to gravitate towards bright colors. Another Coach connection. :) Hurray!

*Random Fact about me: The first place that drips sweat on a run is my inner elbows. Weird huh?

My song of choice for the WMMC is "Til I Collapse" by Eminem. HAHA! How appropriate! Makes me want to kick some major butt. Still going strong with this challenge. I'm loving this!

Whilst studying at a London Uni a meat eating antagonist highlighted the glaring hypocrisy in my defence of a vegetarian lifestyle. “Why,” he asked, “do you trumpet the health benefits and compassionate virtues of a vegetarian and/or vegan diet whilst wearing a square metre of cow’s skin on your feet?” I had no adequate reply to this valid question apart from to say I was on a journey and although I felt I was on an honorable path I still had much ground to cover.

In reality, I felt humiliated and something of a hypocrite. I went back to my bed-sit a little dejected. After a few moments cogitating I decided to catch a tube to the westend to buy a pair of smart vegan shoes I could use for both job interviews and evenings out. I arrived at Oxford Street full of enthusiasm and a hundred pounds in my pocket. Where should I start? There were so many options? At least, that’s what I thought until I entered over 10 shoe shops and not one could offer me a smart pair of vegan shoes.

Surely, there must be somewhere I desperately proclaimed to one shop assistant who looked at me like I was asking for directions to the Sangraal. After over 4 hours of searching it became patently obvious that footwear manufacturers and retailers had decided there was no market for smart vegan shoes, or vegetarian shoes or vegetarian boots for that matter. In the end I bought a pair of canvas shoes and just hoped the glue and sole didn’t have any dead animal ingredients. Well, that was over fifteen years ago and I am happy to say things have improved considerably for vegans and/or vegetarians wishing to buy decent vegan shoes or vegetarian shoes over the years.

It's time to announce the winner of the Beibi Shoes.

Congratulations to #232 Jennifer J - i'd choose the logan purple baby shoes!

I have sent you a confirmation email. Please respond within 72 hours. If you didn't receive the email please send an email to sweetdeals4moms@hotmail.com. I may be in your spam folder.

Winner was chosen using Random.org. Sorry to those of you who didn't win. Stay tuned for more giveaways soon and don't forget to enter my current giveaways on the top right hand corner of the site. Organisers simplify World Cup 2010 ticket sales

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth

Tickets to the 2010 World Cup have been made easier for local fans to buy after disappointing sales ahead of the tournament's first match on 11 June.

From April tickets will be available to purchase for cash as well as via the internet or written forms in banks.

Supporters in host nation South Africa are used to buying seats on the day of a match rather than in advance.

This year's World Cup could be the first in which tickets to watch the host nation are not the most popular.

The current ways of buying tickets has been criticised as unsuitable and over-complicated.

Most poor black football fans do not have internet access and many do not have bank accounts.

Organisers will also make the tickets - the cheapest of which are still six times the price of a seat at a local top-flight match - available over the counter.

"We are definitely in the process of changing this and as a member of the ticketing committee, I am confident that Fifa will understand our position," said chief organiser Danny Jordaan.

Jordaan previously revealed that more South Africans have bought tickets to see England play than for their own national team.

The situation is a contrast to the previous World Cup in Germany in 2006 where there was an average of six applications for each available ticket.

choose a pair of shoes

We had the opportunity to choose a pair of shoes for our little girl who is on the way. I chose the Paris shoes in light pink. Christian Louboutin Since this is my first girl I am pretty excited about everything girly and these are perfect! I love the style. They are a pretty pink, they will match almost all her clothes since she has a lot of pink. They are dressy enough to wear with nicer Louboutin shoes outfits but we can put them on her with anything, because let's face it-she's not going to be stomping in the mud any time soon!

As Kanye West records his upcoming album in Hawaii, it’s going to be inevitable for some of the locals to snap photos of Kanye Louis Vuitton as he spends some leisure time away from the studio to enjoy his surroundings. Here’s a recent photo of Kanye at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet wearing RRL khaki-colored jeans and the Nike Alpholution “Carbon Fiber” shoes. The colorway of the shoes draw inspiration from the Zoom Flight 95 and appropriately features carbon fabric around the heel. The “Carbon Fiber” was released in Augst 2009 and appear to be all sold out on the Kix-Files cheap shoes online store.

You ever notice those Sponsored Links at the bottom of every page of RunnersWorld.com?

Me neither. Until recently, boots shoes when I scrolled way down there by accident. It was weird and alien, kind of like getting off at the wrong exit and winding up in a funky part of town you never visit.

I'm glad I saw the ads, though, handbags because WOW. I have a new respect for technology. Whatever algorithm they're using to serve these ads is just unbelievable. It's uncanny, how closely the offers hew to my wants and needs.

Movie/Book: Back to the Future 1-3

  Shoes: Black Chuck Taylors

Again, I was watching a random scene late the other night and noticed my shoes while he was running around, trying to get back to the future.

Seriously, why do I never see girls wearing cool converse in movies? I see girls wearing them all the time in real life...check out lines, airports, random stores....I think I saw three people the other day in the airport wearing my chucks. All within like, ten minutes. It was funny.

I never really understood why people obsessed over shoes. Until now. I don’t know what has happened to me but over the last few weeks, I’ve spent hours lusting after ballet flats, boots and heels, and I’ve found some so-over-the-top-they-are-awesome footwear designs! The kind of shoes that you dress to complement rather then the other way around.

  1) Okay, so these aren’t really over the top or unwearable, but they are unique and so ingeniously designed! These TOMS wrap boots

have been featured here and I am totally obsessed with them! You ‘wrap’ them on and can wear them in so many different ways! PLUS, for every pair of TOMS shoes that you buy, they donate a pair to a child in poverty!

I love this ‘one for one’ premise, because I have seen first hand how shoes can make a difference for children. Over the summer, as part of a 4 week expedition to Southern Africa, my team spent a week helping to renovate Luhlangotsini Primary School in Swaziland. Most of the children had to walk barefoot for several kilometres to school. The school had an amazing football (soccer!) team that beat us hands down, barefoot. So, now that we’re back, we’ve started a ‘Shoes for Swaziland’ collection where we are collecting unwanted shoes from students in our school so we can ship a massive container of shoes to the school!

Anyway, I think that by buying TOMS shoes you can make little children happy! Do you need more convincing!?

Schumacher rivalry

Fernando Alonso relishing Michael Schumacher rivalry

  Alonso 'excited' by Schumacher return

  By Jonathan Legard

BBC Sport at Madonna di Campiglio

Ferrari's new recruit Fernando Alonso says he is looking forward to renewing his rivalry with seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in 2010.

Schumacher won five world titles with Ferrari but is returning with Mercedes, who, as Brawn, won both titles in 2009.

"When Michael left it was not the same beating the others," Alonso, who pipped Schumacher to the 2005 and 2006 titles before he retired, told BBC Sport.

"To beat a legend is very motivating. Now he's back it's very special."

Schumacher's renewed rivalry with Alonso is one of the most eagerly anticipated match-ups of the new season, alongside 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton's first competitive meeting with Schumacher.

"Michael and I were rivals over the last two years," added Alonso, who ended months of speculation by signing a three-year deal with Ferrari in September.

"There was intense rivalry going into the last race of 2006 in Brazil [where that year's title was decided].

"You never lose that competitive person that Michael has inside - that was one of the motivations for him coming back."

Relationships between the seven-time world champion and Alonso sour during their championship battle in 2006.

  Ferrari boss predicts close fight

One flashpoint was when Schumacher deliberately crashed his car at slow speed to stop the Spaniard snatching pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Schumacher has never admitted to deliberately blocking the track but he was found guilty by race stewards and put to the back of the grid.

It was Alonso's turn to be furious at the Italian Grand Prix later that year when he was demoted five places for allegedly holding up Schumacher's team-mate Felipe Massa in qualifying.

Alonso has now arrived at Ferrari as Massa's team-mate for 2010 and he donned the famous red kit for the first time this week at the team's annual winter sports event at Italian ski resort Madonna di Campiglio.

The Spaniard has already spoken of a desire to emulate Schumacher, who captured five world titles with Ferrari to add to the two he won with Benetton.

But Alonso acknowledged that with four world champions on the track in 2010 it will be difficult to also match Schumacher's dominance.

"You want to win always but it will also be almost impossible to repeat seven world championships," he conceded.

Fernando and Felipe are able to beat him even if Michael is still very strong

  Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali

"It will be difficult to win championships in a row like before as the cars are so close now.

"Ferrari and Mercedes will be top level teams; McLaren with their two world champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull will be contenders so it can be a fantastic championship.

"2005 and 2006 were unforgettable but the next years are a challenge for me to try and win a world championship with Ferrari and the title for a third time. It's a clear target for my near future.

"I would like as much success as possible to end my career on a high. I'd like to feel the same sensations that Michael did here over many years."

The first challenge for Alonso is settling into a new team alongside Massa, who emerged as Ferrari's de facto number one ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in 2008.

Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa (left) and Fernando Alonso

Massa (left) and Alonso have been getting acquainted on a skiing trip

Alonso is known to prefer to be top dog and openly accused McLaren of favouring his team-mate Hamilton during his tumultuous 2007 season with the Woking-based team.

Massa and Alonso clashed in on-track incidents at the Spanish and European Grands Prix in 2007 but the Spaniard says struggles over the balance of power at Ferrari will not be an issue.

"We were competitive people in 2007 but we have a good relationship and this is the past," Alonso, 28, added.

"I never ask to be the number one driver in any team but I do not want to be the number two.

"I'm not saying I want any preference but I work 110% with the team and if the team isn't working to the same level then that's not right.

"I learnt a lot at McLaren. Felipe has been here a long time and that's good for me."

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali is charged with balancing the power between his drivers but he is adamant internal rivalry will not be an issue.

  606: DEBATE

Who do you think will win this particular duel between Schumacher and Alonso?

  Mike H

"The rules are clear here," he said. "The drivers appreciate that.

"It was the same with Felipe and Kimi - one was stronger one year and then the other in the next and respect develops.

"People try to generate competition within our team but we have to be more rational inside."

Domenicali also spoke confidently about his new driving pairing and their ability to spoil Schumacher's comeback, saying it hails a new era at the Italian marque.

"We have two Latin drivers and it's a gush of fresh air which brings a sparkling, new environment," he stated.

"Fernando and Felipe are one of the strongest pairings amongst the teams.

"Michael's return is further stimulus within our set-up. We have to show Michael that this is a strong team. We want to win.

"Fernando and Felipe are able to beat him even if Michael is still very strong."

Ferrari's countdown to the 2010 season begins with the launch of their car on 28 January at their Maranello base.

The team stopped developing their 2009 challenger, which was off the pace at the start of the season, last summer to focus on 2010 but Domenicali remains cautious about making predictions before the car has hit the track.

"I believe the prospects are good," said Domenicali. "Despite last season, which was difficult for a lot of reasons, we have consolidated for the future.

"I don't think we'll see how competitive we will be by the first test in February but maybe by the last test.

"Winning immediately would be better but let's stay calm if it doesn't happen.

"I'm looking forward to see if the data we have, which looks quite position, is confirmed.

"I'm not expecting to see Ferrari at the beginning (to be) straight away there (at the front) - I want to see Ferrari back again competitive and then during the season step by step to grow the development to go back to the place where we should be."

Israel apologises to Turkey over snub

Israel apologises to Turkey over snub

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon meeting Turkish Ambassador Ahmet Oguz Celikkol, captioned

Israel has apologised to Turkey in an effort to defuse a row over the treatment of its envoy in Tel Aviv.

Israel's prime minister said he hoped this "would end the affair".

Ankara had threatened to withdraw the ambassador unless it received a formal apology from Israel by Wednesday evening.

The row began when the envoy was summoned to Israel's foreign ministry over a Turkish TV series portraying Israeli agents kidnapping babies.

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon summoned Ambassador Oguz Celikkol to rebuke him over the fictional television series Valley of the Wolves, popular in Turkey.

Mr Ayalon ensured the ambassador was seated on a lower chair and removed the Turkish flag from the table.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said the ambassador would "return on the first plane" on Thursday unless Israel issued a public apology.

In the letter of apology, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "again expressed his concern over the cooling of the ties between Israel and Turkey" and instructed officials "to find ways to prevent this trend", according to a statement from his office.

The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey had received the apology it "wanted and expected in diplomatic terms."

But at a news conference he added that "Israel must put itself in order and must be more just and more on the side of peace in the region."

  'Repeated provocation'

Footage of Mr Ayalon urging journalists to make clear the ambassador was seated on a low sofa, while the Israeli officials were in much higher chairs, has been widely broadcast by the Israeli media.

He is also heard pointing out in Hebrew that "there is only one flag" and "we are not smiling".

"In terms of the diplomatic tactics available, this was the minimum that was warranted given the repeated provocation by political and other players in Turkey," he said, according to Reuters.

One Israeli newspaper marked the height difference in a photo, and captioned it "the height of humiliation".

Last October Israel complained over another Turkish series, which depicted Israeli soldiers killing Palestinians. In one clip, an Israeli soldier shoots dead a smiling young girl at close range.

The row comes ahead of a planned visit by Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak to Turkey on Sunday.

Turkey has long been an ally of Israel, but relations have deteriorated as Ankara has repeatedly criticised Israel for its offensive in Gaza a year ago.

Rights groups say about 1,400 Palestinians died during the operation, which Israel said had been aimed at ending rocket fire by Hamas.

Thirteen Israelis died during the violence.
